Spielbeschreibung

Heroes is a colourful arcade game that combines elements from Nibbles, Tron and Snafu with multiple game modes, bonuses and other features.

Just like in Snafu, there are four snake-like entities moving around the playing field, one of which is controlled by the player (or two in two-player mode) and the others by the computer. Players need to navigate the map safely while collecting various bonuses and avoiding traps. Unlike Nibbles or Tron, only crashing into the snake's own tail will result in losing a life, while collisions with other snakes or walls will make the snake automatically change course.

There are five game modes: Quest, Kill 'em All, Death Match, Time Cash and Color. All these give players different objectives for scoring points, but Quest is the closest to the classic Nibbles gameplay.

Heroes also offers many different bonuses that affect gameplay, including those that speed up or slow down player movement, invert the control keys or make the snake longer, and one bonus turns on a ripple effect on the screen.

The game was made by a demoscene group called RealTech and was released as freeware. A cross-platorm, open source version with enhanced features is also available.
