Red Dwarf is a text adventure fangame based on the British sci-fi TV sitcom of the same name. You control the story's protagonist, Dave Lister, on what roughly follows the plot of the early seasons of the show and/or the official novelization of the series, similarly titled Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers.

A classic example of interactive fiction, the game is controlled by typing commands and provides feedback in the form of text descriptions of the places, items and characters the player comes across, as well as occasional dialogue. The built-in scoring system awards points for solving puzzles and generally making clever moves, but tarrying and poking around aimless will subtract points, which may result in lower score even if the game is won.

Red Dwarf was released as freeware under the GNU GPL license. The source code in Turbo Pascal was also available for download from the author's website, but might have been lost since.
