K-Chess is an educational chess programme that is intended to help users hone their chess-playing skills. It can show which pieces are under attack and where they can move, and can suggest moves or do a complete auto-play. It is possible to undo moves and save the current game at any time. A two-player mode is also available.
K-Chess was originally developed for DOS and sold as shareware (with a trial period of 30 days but no other limitations), this version only offers text-mode graphics. Later ports to Windows already have a fully graphical user interface that is much more versatile. The Windows version of K-Chess is a 16-bit application and will need winevdm to run under modern Windows.
