Spielbeschreibung

This is an unofficial conversion of the popular NES game Battle City. The player controls a tank in top-down view and must defend the HQ (represented by an eagle icon) from waves of enemy tanks that gradually spawn on the other side of the map. In each level, there is a fixed number of tanks that will appear, destroying them all will end the current level.

Each level takes up exactly one screen and has different configurations of impassable and passable terrain, such as brick and steel walls, bodies of water and foliage. Brick walls can be destroyed by gunfire, while steel walls will only go down from shots by upgraded tanks. During play, various powerups will randomly appear on the screen, allowing the player to freeze time, gain temporary invulnerability, an upgrade the tank, among other things.

The game can be played solo or by two players at the same computer, either in co-op or duel modes. A built-in level editor is also available. The author of WinTank also provided a native Windows version of the game.
